Which model should you use?

GPT Image 2.5 is the default for anything that has to look photographed or carry legible text — Flare for light and material, Sunburst for posters and illustration. Nano Banana 2 is the fast, cheaper lane for drafts and social formats, and Nano Banana Pro the same family at higher fidelity. Seedream 5 Pro handles engineered scenes and layout work, and GPT Image 2 remains the fallback when you want its particular look. Reuse reference images you own, then check the full quote for your selected mode and output settings.

Credits use a settlement value of US$0.01; higher subscription tiers offer a lower purchase price per credit within the same billing cycle. Check the full quote for your selected mode and output settings before generating. Failed runs are refunded automatically.

What a month of this actually costs

A working month for an image-heavy project looks like this: 60 GPT Image 2.5 drafts at 1K + low cost 180 credits, then 12 of them finished at 2K + high add 120 more, and 4 at 4K + high add 64 — about 364 credits, or $3.64, for 76 images. A weekly free allowance of 15 credits covers five 1K + low drafts. Use that allowance to explore a direction, then add more creation capacity as your project needs it.

What actually drives the cost

For GPT Image 2.5, resolution and quality set one price together: 1K + low costs 3 credits, 2K + high costs 10, and 4K + max costs 35. Draft at the cheaper combination, then raise the settings you need. Reference images cost no extra, so use them when a look must stay consistent.

Choosing a model for the job

For images: GPT Image 2.5 for photographic work and legible text inside the frame, Nano Banana 2 for drafts and social formats, Seedream 5 Pro for engineered scenes and layout, and GPT Image 2 as the alternative look. Reuse reference images you own and check the full quote for the selected mode and output settings.

Four things that are easy to get wrong

Switching between models or styles does not add a separate switching fee. Each generation quote depends on the chosen model, mode, inputs and output settings. A generation that fails returns its credits to the pool they came from. The weekly free allowance resets every Monday (UTC) without rolling over, so unused credits from that allowance do not carry into the next week.

Common questions

Do I need a subscription to generate?

No. A new account gets 18 free credits in its first week and 15 every week after, with no card. Paid plans start at $9.90/mo and credit packs are available once you have subscribed.

Which models can I use?

Every model listed above is available across the plans. One credit pool covers images and video, so switching models stays simple.

What happens if a generation fails?

The credits are refunded automatically to the pool they came from, and the failure is recorded in your history with its reason. You only spend credits on output you can download.
