Reference images were generated for this demonstration; no real person or customer photo was used.

Generation prompt
Photograph the person in the reference image floating at the window of a space station, keeping their exact facial features and proportions. Pose: turned three quarters toward the window, eyes lifted slightly, one hand resting on the window frame with the fingertips curled over the edge, hair drifting outward in microgravity. Window: a thick multi-pane round window with a visible metal frame, scarf marks and a rubber seal, the planet below filling the glass with cloud patterns and one bright limb of sunlight at the upper right. Cabin: brushed aluminium panels, a bundle of labelled cables with no readable text, a handrail with wear marks, a soft rubber floor grip strip. Lighting: hard sunlight entering through the window from behind, wrapping a bright rim around the face and shoulder, the cabin interior lit only by a faint cool bounce with unfilled shadows on the near side, prism flare along the window edge. Grade: cool shadow tone with warm skin on the rim, deep contrast, fine grain, no HDR bloom. Camera: 35mm at chest height, wide 16:9 framing with the window on the right two thirds and the person on the left third. Photographic realism, no illustration, no readable text.

What it is used for

  • Riding the space theme on social media, which stays popular and comes back almost every month.
  • Images and cover art for technology and spaceflight content.
  • A gift for a child or a space enthusiast: a picture that puts them in space.
  • Visual assets for science fiction short stories and fan work.

Spacewalk Portrait

The standard approach: helmet, open space and the curve of the planet.

5 credits

Nano Banana 2image → image4:5 · 2K

Reference photos: One frontal portrait, half body or closer. Only the face shows inside the helmet, and the hair is pressed flat under the padding.

Place the person in the reference image inside a real space suit helmet during a spacewalk, keeping their exact facial features, eye shape and face proportions. Structure: a hard shell helmet with a raised visor edge, padding visible at the temples and behind the ears pressing the hair flat, a metal connector ring at the collar with a locking lug, a thin antenna cable running along the left shoulder. Visor: a curved reflection of a blue planet edge sweeping across the glass with one small sun glint at the upper corner and a faint fingerprint smudge near the edge. Suit: padded white nylon with quilted seams, scuffed patches at the elbows, a frayed cuff, a small rectangular patch with an abstract triangle and no readable text. Background: the black vacuum of space with one sharp star field that becomes slightly streaked toward the frame edge, the blue-white rim of a planet at the lower left. Lighting: a single hard sunlight source from the upper right with zero atmospheric softening, deep unfilled shadows on the left side of the face, a bright specular streak along the visor ridge, no fill light. Camera: 50mm at chest height, medium close-up, fine grain, photographic realism, no HDR bloom, no text.
Negative prompt
glass bubble helmet, distorted face, cartoon sci-fi, atmospheric fill light, glossy plastic suit, gibberish labels, HDR bloom, watermarks

Reference only — the image models available here do not take a separate negative prompt, so this list is guidance for editing the prompt above.

Why this works: The standard setting. The phrase about the padding pressing the hair flat inside the helmet matters a great deal; without it the result looks like a fishbowl over the head.

Station Window Backlight

Soft backlight and cabin detail, with a quieter mood.

10 credits

GPT Image 2.5 Flareimage → image16:9 · 2K

Reference photos: One profile or three-quarter portrait. The backlit setting lives on the silhouette, but a frontal photo also works.

Photograph the person in the reference image floating at the window of a space station, keeping their exact facial features and proportions. Pose: turned three quarters toward the window, eyes lifted slightly, one hand resting on the window frame with the fingertips curled over the edge, hair drifting outward in microgravity. Grade: cool shadow tone with warm skin on the rim, deep contrast, fine grain, no HDR bloom. Camera: 35mm at chest height, wide 16:9 framing with the window on the right two thirds and the person on the left third. Photographic realism, no illustration, no readable text.
Negative prompt
soft studio light, flat exposure, cartoon spaceship, glossy plastic, gibberish labels, HDR bloom, lens overload, watermarks

Reference only — the image models available here do not take a separate negative prompt, so this list is guidance for editing the prompt above.

Why this works: The backlit setting gives the best mood. If the face goes completely dark, add 'faint cool bounce from the cabin wall' rather than switching to frontal light.

Mission Patch Poster

A poster version with a mission patch and a name.

10 credits

GPT Image 2.5 Sunburstimage → image2:3 · 2K

Reference photos: One frontal portrait. The poster setting adds layout and a patch, and the amount of text is already kept to a minimum.

Design a mission-ready astronaut poster featuring the person in the reference image, preserving their exact facial identity, with the head inside a hard-shell helmet and the visor raised so the face is fully visible. Structure: padding at the temples, a metal collar ring, a padded white nylon suit with quilted seams and one scuffed shoulder patch. Background: the black of space with a sharp star field, the curved blue limb of a planet at the lower third, and one small sun glint off the visor edge. Poster layout: portrait occupies the central two thirds, a mission patch with an abstract rocket shape and three large block letters sits at the upper left, one narrow vertical band of colour runs down the right edge, a single-line block of four large capitals at the bottom is the only other text, everything else text-free. Treatment: high-contrast poster look, deep blacks, saturated cyan and orange accents, subtle halftone grain across the background, sharp edge highlights on the helmet. Lighting: hard single source from the upper left, unfilled shadows on the right of the face. 2:3 vertical framing, print-like finish, no extra text, no logos, no watermark.
Negative prompt
long sentences, gibberish text, multiple badge shapes, soft portrait lighting, illustration style, HDR bloom, watermarks

Reference only — the image models available here do not take a separate negative prompt, so this list is guidance for editing the prompt above.

Why this works: The poster setting. Text is limited to a three-letter patch mark and four capital letters. Check the spelling after generating and delete the bottom line if it comes out wrong.

Text-Only Astronaut Sample

Page samples and low-cost load testing.

3 credits

Nano Banana 2 Litetext → image4:5 · 1K

A photographic portrait of a generic adult inside a real space suit helmet during a spacewalk. Structure: hard shell helmet, padding pressing the hair flat at the temples, a metal collar ring with a locking lug, a thin antenna cable along the shoulder. Visor: a curved reflection of a blue planet edge across the glass with a small sun glint at the upper corner. Suit: padded white nylon with quilted seams, scuffed elbow patches, a frayed cuff, one small patch with an abstract triangle and no readable text. Background: deep space with a sharp star field that streaks slightly at the frame edge, the blue-white rim of a planet at the lower left. Lighting: one hard sunlight source from the upper right, no atmospheric softening, deep unfilled shadows on the left of the face, a bright specular streak along the visor ridge. Medium close-up at chest height, fine grain, photographic realism, no HDR, no text, no logos.

Why this works: The text-only sample setting and the cheapest one. It is a fallback for the page; the structure and reflection sentences match the main settings so the two can be compared.

Use this prompt

If the result is wrong, change this first

The face is flattened or distorted inside the helmet

Spell out how the parts relate: 'the face fills the visor opening, the head is centred inside the helmet with visible padding at the temples', and add 'the helmet is a hard shell with a raised visor edge'.

The visor looks like a glass dome or carries no reflection

Describe what the visor reflects: 'a curved reflection of a blue planet edge across the visor with one small sun glint at the upper corner'.

The flight suit looks like a plastic bag

Describe the material and the wear: 'padded nylon with quilted seams, scuffed patches at the elbows, a frayed cuff, a metal connector ring at the collar'.

The light is too soft and the image does not read as space

Describe hard vacuum light: 'a single hard sunlight source from the upper right with zero atmospheric softening, deep unfilled shadows, one bright specular streak along the visor edge'.

Gibberish labels appear in the cabin recesses

Leave only one or two abstract markings: 'a small rectangular patch with an abstract triangle, no readable text anywhere'.

Notes

  • The two things that fail most often in space images are the structure of the helmet and the reflection on the visor. Describe the structure in full (hard shell, padding, connector ring) and the reflection in concrete terms (planet edge and sun glint) and the realism rises at once.
  • In the poster setting with a mission patch, be careful with text: keep only an abbreviation of two to four capital letters and avoid long sentences.
