AI Couple Portrait

GPT Image 2.5 Flare · 1K · 3:2 · 6 credits

Reference images were generated for this demonstration; no real person or customer photo was used.

Generation prompt
Create an editorial couple portrait using the first reference image for the person on the left and the second for the person on the right, treating both people as separate individuals with their own unmistakable features, hair length and body type. Wardrobe: tailored neutral tones, one in a stone-grey coat, the other in an oatmeal knit, both without logos. Pose: standing close on a wide stone step, the left person's arm around the other's waist, the right person's head tilted toward their shoulder, both looking off to the same distant point rather than at the camera, natural height difference of about a head with both feet on the same ground line. Setting: a plain concrete wall with soft shadow stripes raking across it, a single dried branch leaning in the corner of the frame. Lighting: hard afternoon sun from the upper left creating a clean stripe of light across the wall and one side of their faces, a white bounce filling the shadow side, no haze. Grade: restrained and cool with warm skin, slightly lifted blacks, fine grain, high-end editorial finish rather than warmth. Camera: 85mm at chest height, medium shot, both faces sharp, no HDR, no text, no watermark.

What it is used for

  • Couple photos for peak seasons such as Qixi and Valentine's Day.
  • Long-distance relationships: combine two separate photos into one frame.
  • Anniversary photo sets, one image a day for seven days in a row.
  • Matching profile pictures: one image for each side of the same scene.

Prompt sets

Each set is a complete prompt. Copy it, or open it in the studio with the model, aspect ratio and resolution it was written for.

Casual Date Snapshot

The standard approach: it should look like a friend caught the moment by chance.

5 credits

Nano Banana 2image → image4:5 · 2K

Reference photos: Two portraits, one frontal photo of each person. The first image is the person on the left of the frame and the second is the person on the right.

Photograph a couple as a candid snapshot from a casual date, using the first reference image for the person on the left and the second reference image for the person on the right, keeping both identities separate and unchanged. Interaction: the left person leans in mid-sentence with one hand gesturing toward a menu, the right person is laughing with eyes closed and shoulders turned toward them, one hand resting on the other's forearm. Wardrobe: everyday clothing in complementary muted tones, one denim jacket, one plain knit top, nothing matching and nothing brand new. Setting: a small cafe table by a window in the late afternoon, one paper cup and a plate with half a pastry on the table, a bicycle leaning against the wall outside, condensation on the lower part of the window. Camera: 50mm at seated eye level, handheld, slightly tilted, both faces on the same level and both in focus, the background softly blurred. Lighting: warm window light from the side, no flash, gentle shadows under the chairs. Grade: natural colour with slight warmth, fine grain, no filter, no HDR, no text.
Negative prompt
posed studio look, matching outfits, merged faces, extra people, distorted hands, flash lighting, HDR, watermark

Reference only — the image models available here do not take a separate negative prompt, so this list is guidance for editing the prompt above.

Why this works: The standard setting. Keep the interaction sentence about who is talking and who is laughing; without it the two people read as strangers pasted together.

Editorial Set Hero Frame

A set of editorial images that share one tone.

10 credits

GPT Image 2.5 Flareimage → image3:2 · 2K

Reference photos: Two portraits. The whole set shares one block of light and grade text; only the setting and the pose change.

Negative prompt
casual phone look, matching outfits, merged identity, hard flash, saturated colour, cluttered background, HDR, watermark

Reference only — the image models available here do not take a separate negative prompt, so this list is guidance for editing the prompt above.

Why this works: The editorial setting. The stripes of hard light are what makes the set recognisable; if half a face goes too dark, add a bounce rather than switching to soft light.

Matching Avatar Pair

One image for each side of the same scene, made to pair as profile pictures.

5 credits

Nano Banana 2image → image1:1 · 2K

Reference photos: Two portraits. This entry produces only one avatar: the mirrored half comes from running the same prompt text in reverse, and the two images then pair up.

Create a single square avatar of one half of a couple, designed to sit beside a mirrored version: place the person from the first reference image in the right half of the frame, cropped just below the shoulders, turned three quarters toward the left edge of the frame as if looking at someone just outside the shot, with a soft smile and one hand raised slightly into the lower left corner of the frame. Wardrobe: a plain oversized knit in a muted tone, no logos. Setting: a plain warm wall with a soft shadow falling diagonally, one small plant leaf entering the top left corner and staying out of focus. Lighting: soft diffused window light from the left, matching the mirrored image so the two avatars share the same light direction and colour; the visible shadow falls on the same side relative to the body. Grade: warm neutral, gentle contrast, fine grain, so both halves match when placed side by side. 1:1 framing with the head in the upper third and clear space in the lower left for the mirrored pair to meet. Photographic realism, no illustration style, no HDR, no text.
Negative prompt
two people in one frame, centred composition, harsh light, saturated colour, cluttered background, HDR, text, watermark

Reference only — the image models available here do not take a separate negative prompt, so this list is guidance for editing the prompt above.

Why this works: The avatar setting. It deliberately places only one person, because the pair is formed when the two images sit together. To build the pair, copy this entry, reverse the camera side and the direction the person faces, and leave every other word unchanged.

Travel Sunset Backlit

A travel photography feel with backlight and a strong sense of place.

10 credits

GPT Image 2.5 Flareimage → image16:9 · 2K

Reference photos: Two portraits. The backlit setting is forgiving about the light in the reference images but demanding about keeping the skin tone.

Photograph a couple at a harbour wall just before sunset, using the first reference image for the person on the left and the second for the person on the right, keeping both identities recognisable. Interaction: seated side by side with legs hanging over the wall, the left person pointing at something across the water, the right person leaning their head on the other's shoulder and looking up, both feet off the ground and the wall edge clearly visible under them so the seating reads correctly. Wardrobe: light summer layers, one linen shirt, one cotton dress, both slightly rumpled from travel. Setting: a stone harbour wall, calm water with a low sun path reflecting across it, two moored fishing boats slightly out of focus in the middle distance, a few gulls as small silhouettes. Lighting: backlit sunset with warm rim light along their hair and shoulders, faces lifted by a broad bounce from the water, sun flare entering the top left corner, no flash. Grade: warm highlights with cool shadows, gentle halation, fine grain, wide 16:9 framing with the pair on the lower right third and generous sky to the left. No HDR, no text.
Negative prompt
flash on faces, midday light, merged identities, floating feet, distorted limbs, saturated sunset cliche, HDR, watermark

Reference only — the image models available here do not take a separate negative prompt, so this list is guidance for editing the prompt above.

Why this works: The travel setting. The feet and the seated pose fail easily: stating that the two people sit on the wall, that their feet are off the ground and that the wall edge runs below them helps more than describing the background.

Text-Only Couple Sample

The text-only sample setting and the cheapest one.

3 credits

Nano Banana 2 Litetext → image4:5 · 1K

A candid couple snapshot of two generic adults at a small cafe table by a window in the late afternoon: one leaning in mid-sentence with a hand gesturing toward a menu, the other laughing with eyes closed and shoulders turned toward the first, one hand resting on the other's forearm, both wearing everyday clothing in complementary muted tones with one denim jacket and one plain knit top. Camera: 50mm at seated eye level, handheld, slightly tilted, both faces on the same level and both in focus, the background softly blurred. Light: warm window light from the side, no flash, gentle shadows under the chairs. Grade: natural colour with slight warmth, fine grain, no filter, no HDR, no text and no logos.

Why this works: It is a fallback for pages that have no couple photos; the interaction, who is talking and who is laughing, is the core sentence of this template.

Use this prompt

If the result is wrong, change this first

The couple does not read as a couple and looks like two strangers pasted together

Describe the interaction instead of two people standing side by side: 'the left person leans in mid-sentence, the right person laughs with eyes closed and turns the head toward them'. Then add one point of contact, such as 'shoulder to shoulder, one hand on the other's forearm'.

The two identities average out into a third person

State the source of each role separately, and in the same paragraph name three clear differences between the two people: hair colour, hair length and build.

The heights and the proportions do not match

State 'a natural height difference of about a head and a half with both feet on the same ground line'.

Holding hands turns the fingers into a blur

Switch to a pose with less hand action: 'one hand on the other's shoulder, the other hand in a pocket'.

The scene looks like a photo studio backdrop

Add real clutter: 'a paper cup on the table, a bicycle leaning on the wall, condensation on the window', but keep it to three items at most.

Notes

  • The only real difficulty in a couple photo is the interaction: one sentence saying what one person is doing and how the other responds does more than any composition term.
  • To make a matching avatar pair, let both images share the same light and setting text and change only the camera side and the turn of the face.
