Why it works
Tracking alongside at handlebar height keeps the cyclist a constant size, which is the calmest way to show movement in five seconds and the easiest thing for a model to keep stable. The mist does the rest: it removes the far bank, so the model never has to render a detailed skyline. Fog with one soft sun disc is one of the few lighting setups that survives being animated.
